Our Approach to
Sustainable Implementation

Building the system while supporting the people.

Sustainable change requires more than a strong workshop. ACP partners with schools and districts to strengthen the conditions, capacity, professional learning, coaching, and reflection needed for new practices to take hold.

Change  That Fits Your Context

At ACP, we do not start by choosing a workshop or asking a school to fit a predetermined program. We start by listening. What are you working toward? What is already in place? What do educators need? What might get in the way?

Then we build the work with you. That may mean focused support in one area, such as Project Based Learning or Social and Emotional Learning. It may mean a broader partnership that includes leadership, professional learning, and coaching. The shape of the work depends on what your community actually needs.

Built In Partnership

We begin with your goals, systems, people, and priorities, then shape the work with you, not around a prepackaged program.

Learner-Centered

Our professional learning models the engagement, reflection, voice, and agency educators can create with learners.

Designed to Last

Coaching, leadership support, and implementation structures help new learning take hold beyond a workshop.

Supporting the System and the People

A strong workshop can begin the learning, but it cannot carry the work by itself. Educators also need time to try new practices, leadership that understands the work, opportunities to learn with colleagues, and support when implementation gets messy.

That is why ACP looks at both the system around the work and the people doing it.

System Support

We help leaders look honestly at what is already in place: priorities, schedules, structures, communication, resources, and competing initiatives. Then we identify what needs to be aligned or strengthened so educators are not expected to carry change alone.

Educator Support

We help educators understand new practices, try them, study what happens, learn with colleagues, and adjust. Depending on the need, this may happen through workshops, coaching, PLCs, walkthroughs, or implementation visits.

Some partnerships need both kinds of support. Some need only one. We begin where you are.

ACP’s Roadmap to Sustainable Implementation

Building the system while supporting the people.

The Roadmap helps us see the work as a whole. Its five areas are not steps, and schools do not have to move through all five. They help us see what is already strong, what may be getting in the way, and what kind of support would be useful next.

Schools can enter anywhere, revisit an area, or focus only on what matters right now.

ACP’s Roadmap to Sustainable Implementation showing five connected areas of support: Understand and Align, Build Conditions and Capacity, Design and Learn, Implement and Refine, and Deepen and Sustain. The winding road illustrates that schools may enter, revisit, or focus on different areas rather than follow a fixed sequence.

01. Understand & Align

System Support

We begin by understanding what you are working toward and what already exists. Together, we clarify the vision, surface competing priorities, and identify the systems that may support or complicate the work.

Support may include:

  • Strategic implementation planning

  • Systems inventory

03. Design & Learn

System Support + Educator Support

We design professional learning around the people in the room, what they already know, and what they need to be able to do next. The goal is not simply to deliver content. It is to create learning educators can use.

Support may include:

  • Professional learning design

  • Foundational professional learning

05. Deepen & Sustain

Educator Support

As practices take hold, the questions change. We help schools deepen the work, develop internal leaders, study impact, and decide how the learning will continue when ACP is no longer in the room.

Support may include:

  • Advanced professional learning

  • Measuring and sharing impact

02. Build Conditions & Capacity

System Support

Even committed educators struggle when time, roles, expectations, or leadership support are unclear. We work with leaders to create the conditions that make implementation possible and build the internal capacity to carry it forward.

Support may include:

  • Creating enabling conditions

  • Leadership and capacity building

04. Implement & Refine

Educator Support

The real learning happens when educators try something with learners. We create ways for them to bring back evidence, talk honestly about what worked, receive feedback, and decide what to adjust.

Support may include:

  • PLC development

  • Virtual coaching

  • Sustained implementation visits

Different Schools,
Different Starting Points

One district may need its leaders aligned before professional learning begins. Another may already have strong leadership and need coaching or PLC support as educators begin applying new practices. A school with years of experience may be ready to examine its impact or prepare internal facilitators to carry the work forward.

None of these schools is ahead or behind. They are simply starting from different places. The Roadmap helps us name that starting point and decide what would be most useful next.

One Approach,
Different Areas of Expertise

ACP does not require schools to purchase a bundle of interconnected services. A partnership can focus entirely on Project Based Learning, Social and Emotional Learning, or another single area. Other schools may benefit from connecting several areas. We build around the actual need rather than forcing a package.

PBL

Project Based Learning
(PBL)

Support educators in designing meaningful projects that engage learners in authentic inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving.

SEL

Social & Emotional Learning
(SEL)

Build practical ways to strengthen belonging, relationships, self-awareness, emotional growth, and learner success throughout the learning day.

ELE

Empowered Learning Environments (ELE)

Examine the conditions of the learning environment so learner voice, access, belonging, and engagement are designed into the experience.

AA

Actionable Assessment
(AA)

Use assessment to move learning forward, helping educators and learners make sense of evidence and decide what to do next.

L&C

Leadership & Coaching
(L&C)

Strengthen the leaders and coaches responsible for supporting professional learning, implementation, reflection, and change over time.

Where Should Your Work Begin?

You do not need to have the whole path figured out before reaching out. Tell us what your school or district is working toward, what has already been tried, and where the work feels stuck. We will start there.
